About Tauriel:
✵ Tauriel is an elf of Mirkwood, a Silvan Elf, specifically. She does not appear in Tolkien's original Hobbit manuscript, but is a film addition only. She serves the Mirkwood King, Thranduil, as Captain of the Palace Guard.
✵ Tauriel is a relatively young elf, although it is stated she is more than likely 600+ years old, as she has lived in Thranduil's household for at least that long. However as elven ages are measured in eons, it is unclear as to her specific age. Her parents are presumed deceased (or have returned to Valinor) and she does not seem to have any relatives among the Wood Elves.
✵ She is a childhood friend of Legolas, the Prince of Mirkwood and Thrauduil's only son. It is intimated by the King himself that Legolas's feelings for Tauriel go further than friendship, although Tauriel herself appears unaware of this, but because of her low station among the elves--she is not royalty and has no ties to any higher ranking elf other than Legolas himself--there could never be anything but friendship between them. (IE: Thranduil's an asshole.)
✵ Tolkien's elves are damn near perfect. Check this out. In summary, they have hellaciously long life spans, require little to no sleep, food or drink, are amazing at pretty much anything they do. Tauriel is no exception. She is a fearsome warrior, deadly with a bow and lethal with a dagger/short blade in each hand. (They are thankfully saved from sue/stu-status by their personality/emotional issues, lol.)
✵ For whatever reason (and God are there many), most elves aren't very tolerant of the other races. They despise all servants of evil, and treat humans and dwarves with barely constrained hostility. The Mirkwood elves seem to epitomize this, thanks partly to their King's isolationist state of mind. In contrast, Tauriel seems to have a wider vision scope, looking out beyond the borders of the Wood and voicing concern for the other kingdoms regarding the coming shadows stretching over Middle-Earth. This is also evidenced when she takes it upon herself to track the orc pack pursuing the escaped dwarves from the Woodland Realm.
✵ When Thorin and Company were imprisoned by Thranduil's warriors, Tauriel struck up a particularly interesting conversation with Thorin's youngest nephew, Kíli. She seemed to realize that the differences between their races wasn't important, showing a gentler side to her normal, hard "Captain of the Guard" facade. In Laketown, she disobeyed Legolas's order to accompany him after the orcs in order to save Kíli's life from the Morgul poison, utilizing healing magic(?) apparently to some degree inherent in all elves.

About the Mun:
⚵ The mun writes in prose; it's just my thing. Rp partners are of course not expected to follow suit; feel free to tag in whatever style you like. All responses, however, will be in prose. I like my quotation marks, yo.
⚵ The mun is sometimes a slowish tagger. Unfortunately, the job and other real-life things sometimes take precedence over rp-time, but rest assured I will backtag into oblivion. No worries, peeps, I'll get to all tags eventually.
⚵ The mun loves plots and AU's and all cross-overs. I generally don't mind ships, pairings, although my preference is heterosexual by default and for Tauriel it is canon, so. That doesn't mean that there's not room for "youthful curiosity", but I do prefer a certain chemistry between characters before trousers go flying. Preferred ships are Tauriel/Kíli or Tauriel/Bard. But I can set sail with anyone and am willing to try anything once. Battle of the Five Armies is under my belt, so no worries regarding spoilers, although please let me know if you'd rather avoid them and I will certainly try to do so.
⚵ The mun is also very approachable and does not mind questions/comments/ideas and other things. Hit me with all the things, bbs! I don't bite, at least not very hard and it's out of love besides.
All that said, c'mon, broskis! Let's go play! <3
